Day Two! We headed up the mountain this day... Kids were waiting for this for EVER! We drove the mountain first, (nap times for the wee ones and break times for us!) Then headed to our favorite spot... Cedar Breaks! (ok, the sign says Point Supreme but whatever!)
We ate lunch there and the kids all of a sudden started to love each other... I mean they were so excited they just kept hugging everyone!
Our favorite look out point. Anything that makes my kids understand a touch of God beauty is top on my list. This world is so beautiful and I hope they get to see a lot of it... Not just the "big or popular" places... The small stuff, too! We took our kids here 2 years ago before Grace was born so of course we had to go back. (I think I even blogged about it, too!)
Grace was mad she couldn't climb up there. Actually none of them should have been up there... Good going mom and dad!
The kids thought it was neat to watch the birds fly below and to see that some places still had patches of snow!
We headed down to go on a kid friendly hike. It is only about a mile long and just perfect for Gracie. We knew the older kids could explore down at the cabin. Grace usually holds our hands but she just took off and built up her courage by racing all around the open grounds.
Grace wanted to be picked up so Emma ran over and stole her away from me. She was kind of falling but it was still really cute!
We started the hike... I wasn't sure how long Grace would last since this trail was just that. A trail. You need to stay on the path. She did VERY well... Just like the others!
Last time we did this hike with the kids there was 3... Had to update the picture of them on the bench! (Grace looks so small next to the others! Scott is also a bit bigger for his age..)
From Grace's point of view, again! She was racing around the trails trying to get me!
End of the hike pose! Say cheese! I think Grace was off somewhere with daddy. She was still running around smelling all of the flowers... and there were a lot!
Cabin time. We only planned to go down to check on things and ended up there for 3 hours... We had to head home since daddy had to be back to work early the next morning. I guess we missed the cabin too much!
Time for some lessons on gun safety. I think we scared them more than anything! But daddy let them each fire his 22.
LJ got to shoot next. He does NOT like loud noises. So getting him to fire it was a very slow process. But he did and was very brave.
Scott just recently picked up LJs fear for loud noises and only would pull the trigger. Which was ok with us since he is too immature for gun-handling. We will keep him at the "scared-of-loud-noises" phase for now. (See his arms covering his ears!!)
We used to have a "dinosaur" tree up the mountain but the bugs have gotten to it and all the bark was gone. (I think I blogged about that picture, too, a few years ago.) So we had to pick another one. Two years ago Scott fell right before taking the picture of our old dinosaur tree and I ended up with an action shot of him falling. Before I took this picture, Scott fell again and I have yet another action shot of him falling! Oh, it was too funny!
Bryan got to fire HIS gun. Lets just say that I took Grace into the car. Now this picture has a debate going on about it. If you click on the picture it should enlarge it. The line from his gun... Is it from the bullet of from a bug on the window? (Remember the gun does kick a bit!) The world may never know!
On our way down we fed the fish. This time we couldn't find any. I hope all the construction around our cabin doesn't scare/kill them off. It would be a shame.
Scott feeding phantom fish!
It was a quick weekend trip but well needed. We knew our California trip was coming up but we just had to get away. It had been 2 years of NO road trips and it was getting to us. Sometimes you just gotta go! See you soon Utah!
